Hi, I’m Connor, and I’d like to share my journey of transitioning into the electrical industry. I grew up in Zimbabwe, where I started my career as a bricklayer in the construction industry. However, I quickly realized that bricklaying wasn’t the path I wanted to follow—it was tough, physically demanding work, and I knew I wanted something more fulfilling.

That’s when I decided to pursue electrical courses, enrolling in Level 2 and Level 3 programs. This decision changed my life, setting me on a path toward a rewarding and exciting career.

Why I Chose Electrical Courses

To be honest, I didn’t overthink it when I decided to dive into the electrical industry. I just knew I wanted a change. The electrical courses I chose seemed like the perfect way to build on my existing skills in construction while moving into a field with more opportunities for growth.

These courses appealed to me because they offered a comprehensive package, combining practical knowledge with theoretical understanding. As someone already familiar with tools and job sites, I figured this was my way to level up and create a better future.

The Challenges I Faced

I won’t lie—there were challenges along the way. The theory, in particular, was tough for me at first. There was so much information to take in, and at times, it felt overwhelming. But I knew I had to push through and get it done.

One of the biggest hurdles was preparing for the many exams required to pass the course. It was a real test of my discipline and focus. I had to dedicate a lot of time to self-revision and make sure I fully understood the material. Thankfully, I had some great tools to help me along the way.

The Tools That Made a Difference

One of the best resources I used was an app called Socratic. It generated questions for me to practice with, which helped me identify the areas where I was struggling. I’d go through the questions, figure out where I was falling short, and focus my studying on those topics. It was a game-changer.

In addition to the app, I relied on the online content provided by the course. By combining those resources with focused effort in class and at home, I was able to overcome the challenges and steadily build my confidence.

The Support That Kept Me Going

What really made a difference was the support I received from my teacher, Says. He was more than just a teacher—he genuinely cared about my success. He guided me one-on-one, made sure I understood the material, and provided constant encouragement. We had a great relationship, almost like friends in the classroom. His knowledge and depth of understanding were incredible, and it was reassuring to know he had my back.

How the Courses Changed Me

These electrical courses were more than just a stepping stone for me—they transformed the way I think and approach my work. Before, I might have felt like a fish out of water, unsure of what electricians were talking about or how to diagnose a problem. Now, I feel confident and capable. I understand the jargon, the theory, and the practical aspects of the job.

I no longer second-guess myself when handling tasks like wiring or testing. The courses gave me the skills and knowledge I needed to feel at home in the electrical industry.

My Advice to Others

If you’re considering a career in the electrical industry, I can’t recommend these courses enough. You never truly grasp the depth of a field until you dive in, and that’s exactly what these programs help you do. Sure, wiring might seem straightforward, but there’s so much more to learn—testing, inspecting, and understanding the underlying theory.

The knowledge I gained through these courses has been invaluable, and I believe anyone who’s serious about entering the electrical industry will benefit immensely.

Looking Ahead

Looking back, I’m so glad I made the decision to enroll in these electrical courses. They’ve set me on a path to a career that’s both challenging and rewarding. I’ve gained not just technical skills but also a new level of confidence in my abilities.

For anyone out there wondering if it’s worth it—trust me, it is. The effort you put into these courses will pay off in ways you can’t imagine. If you’re ready to take the leap, go for it. You won’t regret it.
