Excellent tips on reducing energy bills each month

Excellent tips on reducing energy bills each month

Steps to Become An Electrician

Are you looking for ways to cut down on your energy bills every month? 🤔 We have some excellent tips to help! 💡

With the days getting longer but no real change in the weather just yet, you might be tempted to leave the heating as is for now. For those of us who are trying to keep costs down and lower their monthly energy bills, there are some steps around the home that will cut down on costs if you know where to look.

As experts in electrical training, we know a thing or two about ways of keeping energy bills down. Here are some of our favourite tips that hopefully spark some inspiration to help you save.

Install energy-efficient lights throughout your home.

Swapping out your traditional incandescent bulbs with LED or CFL bulbs can help you save money on your energy bills. LEDs are four times more efficient than incandescent bulbs, while CFLs are seven to nine times more efficient. Not only will this help you save money, but it also reduces your carbon footprint!

Investing in programmable thermostats to reduce energy costs.

This allows you to automatically adjust the temperature in your home for optimal savings!  You can even set different temperature settings for different times of the day so you are only using energy when you need it. Since most of our energy bills are from heating and cooling our homes, this would be a pretty smart move.

Unplug electronics when not in use.

Even when electronics are turned off, they still draw energy if left plugged in! Unplug them when not in use to save energy and money.

Try using alternative heat sources.

Utilising natural heat sources such as wood-burning stoves or small space heaters can be an effective way to reduce energy costs.

Use Natural Light whenever possible.

Open your curtains during the day to let the sun in and keep your home naturally warm. This can reduce your need for artificial lighting and heating.

Utilise energy-saving appliances.

Appliances that are certified energy efficient can help you save money with each use.

These are just a few of the simple steps you can take to save money on your energy bills. With a little bit of effort, you can make your home energy efficient and reduce your bills!

You can also compare how much it costs to use each electrical appliance in your home via Citizens Advice’s electrical appliance calculator. By using those, you are able to get a rough idea on the appliances contributing the most to your total energy bill at the end of the month.
