The goal is to balance the needs of our candidates with the practical considerations of assessor availability and travel distance.
Scope
This policy applies to all NVQ Electrical Installation Certificate assessments that require on-site observation by an assessor.
Policy Statement
Assessment Scheduling
- Assessments will be scheduled based on geographic proximity to the assessor’s base location.
- Priority will be given to candidates within a 50-mile radius of the assessor’s base.
Travel Radius
- Assessors will not be required to travel more than 50 miles one way for an on-site assessment.
- Exceptions to this travel limit may be considered under special circumstances, subject to approval by the Assessment Coordinator.
Cluster Assessments
- Wherever possible, assessments will be clustered geographically to allow multiple candidates to be assessed during a single trip.
- Candidates located within the same region will be scheduled on the same day to maximize efficiency.
Remote Assessment Consideration
- In cases where on-site assessments are impractical due to distance, remote assessment options will be explored.
- Candidates may be required to provide video evidence or participate in a live video call to demonstrate their work.

- Candidates outside the 50-mile radius may be required to travel to a designated location within the acceptable travel distance for their assessment.
